Reebok hockey is where the sport is being sponsored by the sports wear giants Reebok. The company that needs no introduction has today been officially labeled the brand to support all needs and requirements of hockey leagues. Reebok hockey will have all the teams playing in the league sporting Reebok brand of apparels, shoes, socks and other accessories. Reebok officially launched the new line of sportswear under the label Reebok hockey and several teams have already joined in using their top of the line products. Primarily created for the ice hockey, their line of products have the best sticks, skates and protective gear as well. The latest in technology has been incorporated with the features required to play the sport without any slips or trips. This way the players are assured of good quality reliable products that will be with them through the season. The hockey company and some of the leading players such as Tony Amonte of Philadelphia, Pavel Datsyuk of Red Wings from Detroit and St. Louis Blues’s key player Chris Ponger have launched this new sports line.

Reebok is a company that has been around for more than 100 years making unique equipment and gear for various sports such as Basketball, baseball, and even athletics, and tennis. And today since they have entered the arena of hockey, this also gets included in their list of sportswear created. For a person who is into working out or sports, they will know the beauty and value of owning a pair of Reebok shoes or T shirt. They are very stylish, comfortable and serve the purpose to the last minute. Today, since they have made an entry into ice hockey, their range of clothes, and other equipment are available in leading stores and on couple of websites as well. There are some sites and stores, which offer a good discount if one is buying the entire set required to play hockey. Since their products are world renowned customers don’t need any extra back up or guarantee on the quality or life of the gear. There are various other brands who are in this market, but Reebok stands out because of their options, and availability of different styles and sizes in all sports fields.

Reebok hockey adds pride to the players by giving them an extra confidence because of the gear they are sporting. These also create a positive impression in the mind’s of the team and those in the stands, who take notice of the players unlike earlier. The focus is on helping the players move faster than before and agile on the ice maneuvering their way through the blocks. The Reebok hockey equipment is light weight and easy to maintain, and so there are other players who are slowly switching brands and moving to Reebok. They have also introduced a helmet made using fine material which can rotate complete 360 degrees, a first of its kind, not only this but it is also said to be the lightest helmet.

Determining how to condition properly for hockey is a controversial subject that is debated by coaches from the atom ranks all the way up to the pros. When it comes to designing an off-season training program, most experts agree on how to best develop strength, speed and power in young hockey players, but there is always disagreement on how to best develop conditioning.

Slow & Steady Does NOT Win the Race

The game of hockey is characterized by short, explosive, high-intensity efforts interspersed with periods of complete rest. The best hockey players in the world are the ones who are strong, fast, agile and powerful – not those who can run at 10 miles in the fastest time. Hockey is simply not an endurance sport. In fact, the best players on the ice tend to be the ones who perform poorly on off-ice tests of endurance.

The challenge is that players feel as though they are becoming more fit for hockey by focusing on increasing their endurance in the off-season. Players who go for long slow distance runs over the summer will definitely develop their endurance, but this enhancement will come at the expense of their ability to perform at the highest intensity level consistently throughout the game.

Do You Want to Be “Fit” or “Fast”?

Ultimately, on the issue of proper conditioning for hockey, it comes down to choosing between being aerobically ‘fit’ or being strong, fast and powerful. Players must make a trade-off when it comes to conditioning. They can either possess a high level of endurance or game-breaking speed and quickness. It is physiologically impossible to develop both of these qualities to their highest extent in athletes.

Elite hockey players are speed and power athletes and must train to enhance those qualities. Players must develop their ability to perform repeated high-intensity intervals and maintain their ‘jump’ and explosiveness throughout an entire game, instead of focusing on their ability to go for long distances at a moderate pace.

In the majority of cases, young players are simply unaware that the endurance training they are devoting so much time and energy to is actually detrimental to their overall performance on the ice.

Bottom line: When young players focus on doing long slow distance training instead of high-intensity interval-based training, they are quite often training themselves OUT of hockey shape and are making themselves SLOW.

Hockey is one of the most physically demanding games known to man. This intense sport requires that a skater have as much strategy and skill as football or baseball player in addition to the strength that only a conditioned athlete can bring to the ice, and a kind of ferocity that is a rare quality indeed. Hockey players must tolerate quite a bit of pain and discomfort, and serious players must be able and willing to participate in very heavy training all through the year to remain competitive. Unlike many sports that primarily require endurance, Hockey is all about sudden short bursts of extremely intense activity. This makes hockey a very different kind of physical challenge than a sport like soccer where movement is lower-intensity but continuous.

A hockey player must be able to rev their personal engine from zero to sixty in a matter of seconds. At the pro level, a hockey player rarely spends more than a full minute at a time actively skating on the ice. Between those brief flurries of almost manic activity, a player can recover and catch his or her breath, but must remain alert and in readiness for the next explosion of action on the ice. Suddenly jumping from a fairly passive and relaxed state to the height of speed and power isn’t easy. The discipline and talent a hockey player must posses in order to do this well are often a large part of what separates the amateurs from the professionals.

The need to be able to swiftly transition from a state of rest to one of peak activity requires specific forms of training that focus on shortening response times and achieving graceful and efficient movement without much of a warm up. A hockey skater’s workout regimen contains many predictable activities like lifting weights and jogging, but one place where many players go in order to improve their agility and response time proves to be somewhat surprising to many sports fans.

Although classical music and pink tulle are the last things most people associate with the rough and tumble sport of hockey, many players train at ballet studios. From young boys and girls who are in amateur junior leagues all the way up to Olympic-level hockey players, spending time refining plies at the ballet barre often proves to give skaters a leg up on the ice.

From dance studios to weight rooms to jogging tracks, a hockey player must train his or her body in a variety of ways to prepare for what many consider the most physically demanding of all sports. Between the strenuous flurries of activity, the psychological stress of performance, the lack of warm up time, and the bulky padding of a hockey uniform, a player at the top level of competitive hockey may sweat away up to eight pounds of water weight during the course of a single game. There is no other sport where this kind of drastic weight loss due to exertion happens so quickly. A hockey player’s body must be prepared to safely weather this kind of ordeal on a regular basis, which requires a level of physical fitness that few other sports require.

Hockey, the great Canadian pastime, is also a booming industry. Hockey is a pervasive sport that is enjoyed by boys, girls, young men and women, and an ever-growing group of “oldtimers”. Certainly not old, but perhaps no longer young, oldtimers continue to enjoy actively participating in the game as they come to terms with the realization that the NHL scouts will not be calling.

Canada is not the only country swept up by this fast paced team sport. Where did this fascination with hockey first begin? Some say it may have come from the British field sports of “hurley” or “shinty”, or perhaps the French version of field hockey which used a wooden stick called a “hoquet” to bat a ball or cork around. Nevertheless, somewhere, sometime during a long cold Canadian winter, some hardy folk tried playing a version of field hockey on ice. The game soon became well known in Scandinavian countries as well as in Russia.

So it is no wonder that North American hockey organizations are now offering hockey schools and tournaments abroad. Of particular interest to many hockey enthusiasts, especially the oldtimers, is the opportunity to combine a hockey tournament with a destination holiday through different European countries. Imagine, after a day on the ice in international competition, enjoying some sightseeing: mountain biking or hiking through mountains in Austria, touring quaint villages and castles in Italy, and attending an authentic Oktoberfest dinner in Germany. An organized international hockey tournament holiday creates the perfect opportunity for your partner to join in on your hockey friendships.

Retired professional hockey players offer hockey schools and fantasy camps in many locations, presenting opportunities to learn from and play with the best all over world. But if a European vacation is too big an undertaking, you can still travel with your family and friends, and enjoy your sport within North America, in such places as Lake Placid, Chicago, Las Vegas and Montreal.

So, don’t worry if the NHL hasn’t come knocking on your door. There truly is a hockey experience for every hockey enthusiast and it may even take you to a vacation destination that you never dreamed of!

Hockey stick is the equipment using which hockey players move the puck or ball around till they pass it to their team mates or score a goal. Like in cricket, players play using the cricket bat, in hockey the hockey stick is the main tool used to control the movement of the puck and it is the one that is used to pull the puck out of the stick from the opponent. This hockey stick has a long handle so it can reach the ground and U shaped base which helps keep the puck within its arms and swing around as and when the player desires. Hockey is a sport played either on a field or on the ice, when it is played on the floor, it is with the help of a hockey bat whereas on ice it is the stick. Each player is expected to be in control of their stick and tackle the puck maneuvering their way around the arena and around the opposing teams players.

The field hockey stick has variations in it and this depends on the position adopted by the player and so the suitable stick needs to be used to have maximum effect. Another thing to note is that the size of the stick is chosen based on the height of the player, shorter players need to carry sticks which have less broad headed stick and so on. The defenders normally play with longer sticks while those in attack position use smaller ones, as the former position demands throwing of the ball to maximum distance. In case of ice hockey, the head is called the blade and it is usually 10cms long whereas the width of the same varies. And if the stick has a sharply curved blade, then the puck will turn giving them a good advantage of getting it across the arena in shorter time span. The game played for only 60 minutes requires players to have sticks that best suit their style of playing and give them a head start over the opponents team.

The main purpose of the game is to move the puck from one player to the other and score a goal in the other team’s goal post. This will give them a point and the team that has the most goals wins the game. The National hockey league has various championships within its folds for which the top performing teams qualify and battle it out against each other to see who wins the finals. Hockey today has become a popular sport, where some have become professional players. And it is part of the Olympic games as well. At times the hockey stick is made of a single piece of wood and a single portion cannot be replaced, but if it has more than 1 piece, then if the blades get eroded, they can be replaced. The hockey stick is the only device that the player has to help them get through the players from visiting team.

Folks, here is the biggest game of ice hockey that will make your day and you are still thinking if the hockey tickets will be obtainable. Or else, it may have happened many times that you wanted to grab hockey tickets for the matches of your favourite teams and couldn’t quite manage to do that, be it for the National Hockey League, the country’s biggest game or for the club level games. All curses to long lines, crazy fans, bulky orders, poor management, etc.

And here is the good news! Well, getting Hockey tickets is no more a dilemma now. You don’t need to stand in long snake lines to get them and neither do you need to wait out in the blistering heat. This is the good news coming in for everybody who desires hockey tickets especially when their favourite teams are out on the sports ground. Wow! Hockey tickets are after all gettable!

Well Ice hockey is the hot favourite sport in Canada and the nearby regions. Ice hockey tournaments are not just a sporting time but a time when every player and fan strives hard to make their team win. There is an immense unity amongst people and the visitors are always on the edge of their seats supporting their team and promoting the game. But for all this to happen, you need some hockey tickets right? Well, where are you getting them from?

Let’s break out the good news. Hockey tickets are being offered by several official and registered legal websites for fans. You don’t need to go to the search engines if you have heard this; you still need to know how to get these hockey tickets. For those wondering if this is legal, yes it is! But the most consolidating factor here can be the commitment of the website to the customers. These websites have a good consumer support and service cell.

This is done in a simple manner. The customer needs to look into these websites for advance notifications of the arriving tickets. You can keep an eye on the various offers from time to time. Apart from hockey tickets you may find tickets for various other games. You can book them in advance based on your interests and make an advance payment to the website on the basis of their rules, regulations and methodology. It is necessary to find the authenticity of the website. After this is done the website will offer you the tickets based on your order. You may order a number of tickets in case a group is going together. If the website offers a limit to the number of tickets an individual can purchase the person accompanying you may be required to place a separate order for the tickets.

In case you are a resident of another country you can still order the tickets. The stamp charge and the shipping charge will be added to the whole package but your hockey tickets will reach you safely. That’s what really matters, isn’t it. Wish you a happy game ahead. Good luck for your team!

If you are a beginner planning to buy yourself a new pair of skates then here are some basic tips to get you started:

1.) Sizing Factor

Hockey skates should be a size or two smaller than your regular shoes. Buying hockey skates that are the same size as your running or athletic shoes may result to injury such as blisters and sprains. Too much space for your foot to move about in a loose hockey skate means that there are more possibilities of a blister forming or inaccurate movements during games or practice sessions. This possibility of inaccurate movement can affect the game and the way that you play.

It is better to have snug fitting ice hockey sticks than loose ones. Bear in mind when fitting hockey skates that your toes need to be able to feel the front end of the skate while you are positive that your heel is backed up into the back part of the skate as well. It is important that you lace up the hockey skates before even trying to move about with them to see how they fit you. You should also try to stand with the hockey skates laced up and then try to bend your knees to a point where you are almost squatting. In this position, you can feel the toe area loosen up a bit. This may be the right skate size for you. The reason for this exercise is due to the fact that when one skates, the knees are usually bent hence the need to concentrate of this particular position to be comfortable.

A few tips to keep in mind:

a.) Never make the mistake of buying skates to grow into. This will put you in a risk of injury.

b.) To test the skates make sure your toes feel the front end of the skate while your heel is backed up into the back part of the skate

c.) Different brands have different sizing guidelines. So make sure to check them out before you go for the buy.

2.) Length and Width

Both the length and width of the hockey skate can affect its fit. Do not try to compensate the length for the width or vice versa. You should have the right length and the right width to have the right hockey skate size. Some people think that they can compensate a wider skate for feet that actually need a longer length. This will give you an inaccurate skate size and may cause serious injury.

3.) Radius of the Blade

Radius of the blade is the amount of blade that is in direct contact with the ice. If you are a beginner skater it is recommended that you go for a larger blade radius. A radius of 5 inches should be a good choice. A larger radius increases stability and aids easy maneuverability along the ice surface.

4.) Break-in period

Break-in period of a skate is the amount of time it takes for the padded lining of the skate to get molded and adjusted to the shape of your feet. How soon the break-in happens depends on a lot of factors like the quality of lining and body-weight of the player among others. A heavier person will generally have a faster break-in period than a light person. So if you have lighter body mass, try to go for skates with a softer lining.

5.) New or Used Skates?

Hockey skates are supposed to be stiff. This is something that you should be aware of before buying hockey skates. Some people might opt to buy the less expensive used hockey skates instead of the more expensive brand new ones. Bear in mind that used skates may have lost their stiffness factor which is essential for more powerful skating action and support for the legs, feet and ankles.

Some cheap hockey skates may be less stiff than the more expensive ones. Buying cheaper hockey skates is only beneficial for those who have not made up their minds regarding playing hockey or not or for children who outgrow a skate easily within a year.

6.) Your Budget

A good pair of skates would cost you anything around $100 to $650. It is recommended not to buy expensive skates for your first pair. Until you play in a league you won’t know what position you are playing or what kind of skate with best accommodate it. Consider the first pair of skates as skates used for practice and introduction to the sport.

Good luck and play hard!

Both teams, India and Holland scored eight points in four matches. The Holland received four penalty corners. Hence, Holland was able to exchange one, while India could not come up with any. Holland could not grasp on to the lead for long because India equalized within two minutes of recommencement.

Holland hockey team was able to get their first penalty corner in the 16th minute of the second half but failed to switch it because Shivender Singh gathered an extended ball from Dilip Tirkey and went past competitor goalkeeper Stockmamm before sending the ball into the net. Holland hockey team got another chance in the very next minute and Geert Jan Derikx sent the bounce back to goalkeeper whose name is Baljit Singh. In this way, Holland got a lead once again with 2-1 lead.

The Indians regrouped and managed them. They equalized the score in the 20th minute of the second half when Prabhjot Singh sounded the position after receiving a long pass from skipper Sandeep Singh.

Indian goalkeeper Baljit showed positive performance against Germany in previous hockey match between India and Germany. He continued to maintain his impressive performance and actions in this hockey match between India and Holland as he warding off 4 penalty corners as well as he was able to stop crucial hits from Hockey players of Holland. On the other hand, the Dutch received their third and fourth penalty corners by the end of the match but Goalkeeper Bijit was fully alert and he successfully frustrated Holland team.

Holland had most of the ball strokes in their control in the first fifteen minutes of the first half. In this way, Holland dominated the game only for a short period of time. After that, Indian players depended on counter attacks and Holland team was under strong pressure that was created by the Indian team. Indian promotes Rajpal, Prabhjot, Shivender and Gurbaj who tried to dominate the game by led the attacks but they were failed to get a great deal of achievements.

Indian team could have accomplishments but Shivender missed a golden chance in the 30th minute of the game when he failed to catch a pass from Tushar Khandekar who was very close to the striking spot. Indian Hockey team was keen on winning. On the other hand, Holland played an attacking game. In addition, the Dutch have looked solid in their game. However, Indian team holds Holland with 2-2.

The thing that amazes me most about air hockey is how quickly it became popular and main stream in America. Air hockey was invented by a trio of Brunswick engineers (Phil Crossman, Bob Kendrick, and Brad Baldwin) between 1969 and 1971, and was an immediate success. The United States Air-Table Hockey Association (USAA) was formed in 1975 to ensure uniform play standards, and the first World Championships were held a few years later in 1978. I was too young to realize how new it was, but I remember in the mid-1970’s that it was all my brother wanted for Christmas, and Santa Claus delivered.

Today there are a lot of companies that make air hockey tables, and some of the professional tables can be quite expensive. But there are also a lot of tables that are great for home use. One of the companies that is well known for good quality home game tables is Carrom. There are three Carrom air hockey tables available to purchase. Let’s take a look at these three tables.

The first of the Carrom air hockey tables is the Carrom 7’ Signature Air Powered Hockey Table. Carrom boasts that this “table has it all”. The table has electronic scoring that celebrates goals with lights and sound, and ships with both two puck and two hand controller styles, for the beginner and advanced players. There is a 2″ drop to the play surface for an arena type feel. Some of the other features of this table include:

UL approved electric high output motor with 100 cubic feet per minute air output. Sides and ends made of compressed hardwood. Furniture quality cabinet with coordinating colored graphic play surface. Play surface is over 1″ thick, made with cold press manufacturing to maintain a flat field surface. Multicolored graphics protected by high pressure laminate for superior wear resistance. Legs are heavy miter fold black vinyl with triple chrome-plated leg levelers for easy and accurate leveling. Aluminum side rails to generate fast rebound play and superior shot control. ABS puck catcher designed for quick puck return to eliminate hang-ups. Cup holders Weighs 205 lbs.

The second of the Carrom air hockey tables available is similar to the first. The MSRP is a little bit more, but I have also seen it on some web sites for a bit less than the first table. It is the 7″ Signature Air Powered Hockey Prof. It is sometimes described by Carrom as “the perfect game table for the expert hockey player”. It also had a 2″ drop play surface and ships with two different styles of pucks and hand controllers.

All of the basic features of the first table are the same. The main difference is in the look of these two Carrom air hockey tables. This table has a wood finish (the first table has more of a black marbled finish), and the legs are different. The legs on this second table have a more substantial look, shaped like a wedge and covered in black vinyl. This table is also a bit heavier, weighing in a 230 lbs.

For the last of the Carrom air hockey tables, the Carrom Company teamed up with NASCAR® . So if you are a NASCAR fan, then this is the table for you! Many of the basic features are the same as the first table, but the NASCAR table features exclusive artwork by Sam Bass, a renowned motor sports artist. His artwork makes this one cool looking air hockey table! The entire table is black (including the play surface) with bright NASCAR graphics. It also weighs in at 205 lbs, though it does not have the cup holders. The price point on the NASCAR table comes in about $150 – $200 more than the other two tables.

So, if you are looking for a game table for your family, check out the Carrom air hockey tables, you are bound to find a good table that your entire family will enjoy. And remember, they all come with a 1 year warranty!

Hockey north of the US Canadian border seems to carry more sway than any political, national or international moment. Hockey is far more than a sport to most Canadians, it’s a catalyst for memories of our youth. Whether it’s playing hockey on a frozen pond after the snow has been shoveled to the edges, or playing on the street in between cars and until the street lights come on. Hockey brings back crystal clear memories for most Canadians. Used to be mostly boys, but times have changed, and with the rise of women’s hockey, many grown women for this and future generations will be sharing those same memories. And, that’s why hockey means so much more than just a sport to most of us. It’s a nostalgic reminder of a less troubled past, and a reminder of a happy youth.

Not Just A Sedimental Journey

Hockey is great sport first of all, for a variety of reasons. It’s truly exciting to watch. Because of the ice surface it’s played on, very few sports can match the speed at which the players move about the field of play. It moves as a game, really moves! Both the players and the puck. The tide can turn quickly in a hockey game, and you really can’t let down your guard down for a moment. There can be long periods of no scoring, with lots of back and forth action. But then, in a heart beat the other team scores, and maybe a second or third goal shortly after, and fortunes have been reversed. I can think of no other sport that causes such heart-stopping, breath-holding, sheer intensity as when another team is pressing for a goal during a power play or man advantage after pulling their goalie. Usually it resembles some kind of train wreck in front of the goalie, with shot after shot, as the goalie goes down and up time and time again. Defensemen sliding desperately, risking injury to stop the puck, in the hopes, that the final seconds will elapse and the hockey game will be theirs.

The Great Ones and The Great One

Those nostalgic memories of hockey are not just of our own epic battles played between the street curbs and mounds of recently shoveled snow. There were of course the hockey legends themselves battling against one another. Hockey night in Canada is truly as much a national treasure, as any to this nation. During our formative years watching the great hockey teams and their rivalries were both a patriotic right and a duty. And then reliving those times in our own backyard rinks and streets, as we assumed the persona’s of our favorite teams and players, to crush the opposing neighborhood kids with spectacular hockey moves, only to be followed only be even more spectacular goals. Truly times to be remembered, and cherished.

It’s Not Just Our Game

The game is shared now. With other players, and other nations. Everyone plays, and their current and future generations are building their own great hockey memories. Andthat’s OK. I just wonder, if those memories will rule their hearts and nations one day as they do ours.
