Back in the early 80s, you felt fear when you played the Islanders. I still remember that first round series in 81 with the Leafs. You knew they would destroy you, the question was how badly. I think the scores were something like 9-0, 8-2 and 7-1.

I would but him 3rd on your list and first for being a two way player

  3. MrAdamchallenger says:

Trottier scored over 100 points plenty of times. unlike lemieux he would back check and run you over. He was the best two way player of all time.

    sure buddy lol

ApachePilot….Trottier was a great player….but he is not even close to being in the same class as Mario Lemeuix…

  6. RicPhlare says:

Met him and spoke to him after an old-timer’s game. Two words – class act.

  7. dzanier says:

Lemieux’s overall impact on a team was greater than Trottier’s & no one could make the argument that that Trottier was a more talented offensive player, but if you were to take into consideration penalty killing, backchecking, faceoffs, physical play, just basic two-way hockey skills, then yes, Trottier was better than Lemieux. But the key thing is impact and ability to win a game singlehandedly, and by that standard Lemieux ranks higher than anyone except Gretzky and Orr.

  10. cjf799 says:

What does cheating on your wife have too do with playing hockey .. woman suck all men cheat even Tiger Woods

  11. Thorntonator19 says:

Lemieux had a 85-goal, 199-point season…Trottier never even came CLOSE to that

  12. sofaking27 says:

he’s my fathers, brothers wifes, uncles, cousins, mechanics sisters, brother-in-law, we go out

  13. ApachePiL0T says:

Everybody believes Mario Lemieux was better than Trotts. C’mon guys, don’t be silly.

bryan is my great grampas 2nd cousns grandson, so were related

  15. Jatt96 says:

Ant that’s why Hartford stunk the joint up.

  16. Jatt96 says:

Okay, great teams, you’re telling me you’d be speaking so greatly about Trotts if he wasn’t playing along with Mike Motherfucking Bossy, or had Denis Potvin at the back end to save his ass whenever a pass was intercepted? But hey that’s your opinion and I respect it. But I believe Mario Lemieux was way better than Trotts.

  17. Epitaph47 says:

I’m Bryan Trottier, I talk in the Third Person… hahaha.

Tremendous hockey player. I’m only 19, but my father is a HUGE Islanders fan and he loved to watch him play the game. Like they said, as well as my dad, he played the game the way it was meant to be played. Could you imagine having a prime Bossy and Trottier on your club now? Unreal.

  18. ekimfloom says:

yeah a real class act…cheating on his wife and refusing to have his number retired by the Isles until they paid him off….real classy….

I have worked with professional athlete’s and you would be shocked at how large and fragile their ego’s are.

A-lot of them are stuck being 16 years old which is one reason they have trouble walking away from the game when their body tells them to. They are addicted to the power of fame, money a-lot have plenty of, but you can’t buy fame sometimes, you have to earn it.

  20. mrceebees14 says:

You are never as happy as when you first win it, so I totally disagree with you.

  21. mrceebees14 says:

Clearly remember back then when Bryan was signed by the Penguins.

    I wanted to fucking puke.

  22. mrceebees14 says:

They considered Bryan the final piece of the puzzle.

I half agree, I think Bryan definitley added leadership and experience, but the Pens stealing Francis and Samuellson from the Whalers helped out just as much.

That Whaler trade still ranks as one of the worst in sports history.

  23. mrceebees14 says:

    I disagree.

Sakic and Yzerman wore #19 because of Trottier.

Lemieux was not the complete player Trotts was, I like Mario, but he was a pussy. Gretzky the same, great talent, but in every catergory? No, without the supporting cast in Edmonton Gretzky doesn’t have the career he had. Beliveau was on superb teams, but again, he was not all around as talented as Trotts, Trotts was 10X the skated Jean was. Out of all the players mentioned the only one close to or equal to Trotts was Messier.

  24. moosedinner says:

Gretzky? Lemieux? Beliveau? Mikita? Morenz? You can also make a case for Sakic, Yzerman, Clarke and certainly Messier. Trottier is a great player, but far from the best center in NHL history.

  25. blindcynic says:

the guy was happier than any other Penguin back in 1991 and 1992. it was like those were his first two Cups…
