Gretzky? Lemieux? Beliveau? Mikita? Morenz? You can also make a case for Sakic, Yzerman, Clarke and certainly Messier. Trottier is a great player, but far from the best center in NHL history.

I disagree.

Sakic and Yzerman wore #19 because of Trottier.

Lemieux was not the complete player Trotts was, I like Mario, but he was a pussy. Gretzky the same, great talent, but in every catergory? No, without the supporting cast in Edmonton Gretzky doesn't have the career he had. Beliveau was on superb teams, but again, he was not all around as talented as Trotts, Trotts was 10X the skated Jean was. Out of all the players mentioned the only one close to or equal to Trotts was Messier.

They considered Bryan the final piece of the puzzle.

I half agree, I think Bryan definitley added leadership and experience, but the Pens stealing Francis and Samuellson from the Whalers helped out just as much.

That Whaler trade still ranks as one of the worst in sports history.

You are never as happy as when you first win it, so I totally disagree with you.

I have worked with professional athlete's and you would be shocked at how large and fragile their ego's are.

A-lot of them are stuck being 16 years old which is one reason they have trouble walking away from the game when their body tells them to. They are addicted to the power of fame, money a-lot have plenty of, but you can't buy fame sometimes, you have to earn it.

I'm Bryan Trottier, I talk in the Third Person... hahaha.

Tremendous hockey player. I'm only 19, but my father is a HUGE Islanders fan and he loved to watch him play the game. Like they said, as well as my dad, he played the game the way it was meant to be played. Could you imagine having a prime Bossy and Trottier on your club now? Unreal.

Okay, great teams, you're telling me you'd be speaking so greatly about Trotts if he wasn't playing along with Mike Motherfucking Bossy, or had Denis Potvin at the back end to save his ass whenever a pass was intercepted? But hey that's your opinion and I respect it. But I believe Mario Lemieux was way better than Trotts.
